Australia New Zealand First National Conference Fiji 2017

Four of our Charles L King & Co (CLK) crew recently attended the Australia and New Zealand First National Conference in Fiji – yes it was tough but someone had to do it – where three days of workshops and networking armed us with all the latest real estate tools and knowledge to help us deliver the best sales experience for you… our clients.

We are blessed with the ongoing support of our branding partner First National and the learning and support we receive on a daily basis is second to none.

This partnership also allows our business, and our team, to support the wider community in many ways through the charitable arm of the network, First National Foundation, to support initiatives including, but not limited to:

• Australian Red Cross Emergency Services

• Australian Young Achievers Awards

• Ronald McDonald House Charities

• The Ride For Sick Kids

• Summer of Surf

• Disaster Preparedness Week

• RACQ Careflight

• Motor Neurone Research - Freeze MND

• GV Heart Open

In addition, the national conference in Fiji was the ideal opportunity for the First National Foundation to officially open (in person) a covered utilities walkway for the Naidiri Bay Khalsa Primary School. First National was thrilled to able to support the local people with the walkway, which will provide much needed shade during the summer months and relief from the torrential rain during the wet season.

This event was also used as a platform for more than 100 conference delegates and their families to donate much needed school supplies ranging from a lap top computer to first aid essentials and a vast range of stationary.

Along with all the property management, sales, marketing tips we brought home from Fiji, the biggest take home was that the people are so very happy with so little in terms of materialistic processions.

CLK sales administrator Lynda McGrath, who lived in a village for six months in 2005 ago, knows all too well what little Fijian people have and has made many trips back to visit life long friends and deliver much needed, every day items we take for granted.

The joy on the faces of Narata Village locals was priceless as Lynda handed out 76 bras, 56 ties and 24 pair of reading glasses – all second hand and donated from friends and family back in Echuca Moama. The highlight of these donations, as relayed to Lynda in the days following, was a 74-year-old local man overjoyed with two new ties – one for church and one for ceremonies – to replace the one he had worn every Sunday for 14 years.

This village, situated on the Sigatoka River, draws an income from vegetable plantations fishing the riverbeds for mussels, both of which are sold to local markets and from our experience, one of the happiest places on earth.

If ever you need a reality check on what’s really important in life… Fiji is definitely your place.
